A GMT pilot's watch with the Swiss-made caliber SW330-2 from the Swiss manufacturer Sellita:

SWISS-MADE automatic movement, caliber Sellita SW330-2: The Swiss Made premium automatic movement SW330-2 from Sellita is a further development of the well-known GMT movement SW330-1 with a 24-hour GMT hand for setting a second time zone. Despite the very high accuracy already achieved at the factory, each individual movement is finely adjusted again by our watchmakers. The movement has an automatic ball bearing winding in both directions, a power reserve of typically 56 hours, a seconds stop, 25 jewels, and performs 28,800 vibrations per hour, which corresponds to a frequency of 4 Hz. The GMT complication and the date are equipped with a quick correction function.
Quality Made in Germany: All watches in the RED BARON collection bear the Made in Germany seal of quality and are manufactured by our watchmakers at our headquarters in Würzburg. The watches only leave our premises after undergoing extensive quality control, including water resistance and accuracy tests.
Double anti-reflective sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating: Unlike plastic or mineral glass, sapphire crystal can withstand extreme stress. With a hardness rating of 9, just like the natural gemstone sapphire, only diamond has a higher hardness rating. This makes sapphire crystal ideal for protecting watch glass from unsightly scratches. To achieve high readability, the sapphire crystal has been double anti-reflective coated and covered with a blue anti-reflective coating.
Swiss Super-LumiNova: The indices and hands of the RED BARON pilot's watch are coated with SWISS SUPER-LUMINOVA luminous material in the “C1” and "Old Radium" version from the Swiss company RC TRITECT AG. The highest quality luminous material on the market guarantees high luminous intensity for many hours.

A coincidence? the story

For more than 30 years, everything for the founders Christian Schmitt and Hans Meeder has revolved around their passion WATCH. As chance would have it, Hans Meeder got his hands on a gift from his uncle from 1976, complete with the original invoice, at just the right time: it was a beautiful Gigandet sports watch with the design typical of the 1970s. The discovery did not let Hans Meeder go. Subsequent research revealed that Gigandet watches had disappeared from the market. Her intuition for brands and her passion for timepieces, together with her experience in technology and sales, led her to the decision to revive the Gigandet brand. Her mission: to develop quality watches with character away from the masses - authentic lifestyle included.

The history of Gigandet

The company Charles Gigandet S.A. was founded in Switzerland after the 2nd World War. The distribution of the watches was successful mainly in the USA and Europe. Around 1970/80 the market for mechanical watches collapsed, due to the successful introduction of high quality quartz watches as well. As a result, Gigandet had to stop production and the company was abandoned...

From the warehouse to the watchmaker, service, development, marketing, design, and technical development, everything is implemented at the Würzburg site. As a result, everything meshes like individual cogs in a clockwork mechanism.

Traditional craftsmanship combined with the highest precision - this ensures high reliability and longevity of our watches.

No GIGANDET watch leaves our manufactory without the loving handwork and the scrutinizing eyes of our master watchmakers, as well as a detailed and final quality control.

We perform almost all types of repairs and tests on GIGANDET automatic watches in our master watchmaker workshop.

At Gigandet, no question remains unanswered and no information gets lost. Our trained specialists are available to you by phone or email. Our watchmakers are also happy to answer very specific questions directly over the phone.

As long as a watch runs smoothly, we generally advise against a premature service. We recommend considering a service at the earliest from the fourth year after purchase. Should you decide to do so, we can carry this out on every watch purchased from us and thereby guarantee long-lasting durability.

Do you have an older model of our watches and would like to have it modernized to our latest standards? That's no problem. For selected models of the G300 series, we can replace the aluminum bezel with a ceramic bezel. For our G2 models, the mineral glass can be exchanged for scratch-resistant sapphire glass. Frequently asked questions

Can the time setting ring only be rotated in one direction?

Yes.
The bezel is only unidirectionally rotatable. More precisely, it can only be turned to the left.

Can I just change the straps on your watches by myself?

Yes.
For our stainless steel bracelets, all you need is a small screwdriver to push the spring bar together at the case band joint and remove the bracelet
If you want to have a leather strap on your watch, you can install one of our many original leather straps with an easy-release function without any tools at all.

Can the watch also be wound by hand?

Yes.
To do this, you must loosen the screw connection. You can then wind the watch clockwise by hand. Afterwards, however, you should be sure to screw the crown back in correctly so that the water resistance is guaranteed.

Can I have individual adjustments on the watch with you?

Yes.
