A coincidence? the story



For more than 30 years, everything for the founders Christian Schmitt and Hans Meeder has revolved around their passion WATCH. As chance would have it, Hans Meeder got his hands on a gift from his uncle from 1976, complete with the original invoice, at just the right time: it was a beautiful Gigandet sports watch with the design typical of the 1970s. The discovery did not let Hans Meeder go. Subsequent research revealed that Gigandet watches had disappeared from the market. Her intuition for brands and her passion for timepieces, together with her experience in technology and sales, led her to the decision to revive the Gigandet brand. Her mission: to develop quality watches with character away from the masses - authentic lifestyle included.

The history of Gigandet

The company Charles Gigandet S.A. was founded in Switzerland after the 2nd World War. The distribution of the watches was successful mainly in the USA and Europe. Around 1970/80 the market for mechanical watches collapsed, due to the successful introduction of high quality quartz watches as well. As a result, Gigandet had to stop production and the company was abandoned...

Our vision is to continue the legacy and philosophy of CHARLES GIGANDET. We see this as a personal responsibility, this encourages us to go this way. Our long experience for timepieces, together with the enthusiasm for craftsmanship, led us to the decision to revive the brand GIGANDET.

No GIGANDET watch leaves our manufactory without the loving handwork and the scrutinizing eyes of our master watchmakers, as well as a detailed and final quality control.

Our services for you

At Gigandet, no question remains unanswered and no information gets lost. Our trained specialists are available to you by phone or email. Our watchmakers are also happy to answer very specific questions directly over the phone.

As long as a watch runs smoothly, we generally advise against a premature service. We recommend considering a service at the earliest from the fourth year after purchase. Should you decide to do so, we can carry this out on every watch purchased from us and thereby guarantee long-lasting durability.

Do you have an older model of our watches and would like to have it modernized to our latest standards? That's no problem. For selected models of the G300 series, we can replace the aluminum bezel with a ceramic bezel. For our G2 models, the mineral glass can be exchanged for scratch-resistant sapphire glass. If you are interested, you can simply contact us by phone, email or fax.

Frequently asked questions

Can the time setting ring only be rotated in one direction?

Yes.
The bezel is only unidirectionally rotatable. More precisely, it can only be turned to the left.

Can I just change the straps on your watches by myself?

Yes.
For our stainless steel bracelets, all you need is a small screwdriver to push the spring bar together at the case band joint and remove the bracelet
If you want to have a leather strap on your watch, you can install one of our many original leather straps with an easy-release function without any tools at all.

Can the watch also be wound by hand?

Yes.
To do this, you must loosen the screw connection. You can then wind the watch clockwise by hand. Afterwards, however, you should be sure to screw the crown back in correctly so that the water resistance is guaranteed.

Can I have individual adjustments on the watch with you?

Yes.
